Take-Two Interactive: Creator of the GTA 3 and GTA Vice City Fan

The developer of the Games Grand Theft Auto III as well as Grand Theft Auto Vice City has initiated a legal proceedings against 14 developers of the FAN project RE3.

The developers from all countries have managed to create a port of the two games for the Nintendo Switch, Wii U and PlayStation Vita through derivation and reconstruction of the original source codes. In addition, the project includes improvements in the original versions such as shortened charging screens and widescreen support.

The creators of the RE3 project are of the opinion not to violate rights against Take-two interactive, as any content (music, dialogues, etc.) was removed from Rockstar. In addition, players still need to possess the original game to play the project accordingly. Take-TWO, however, believes that copy rights were violated and by providing the RE3 code to Github everyone can create their own copy of the game.
